The Trip Back Show Web Site

THE CHALLENGE

The Trip Back Show web site had to be developed to fulfill many requirements, like balancing the modern with the classic. Its dynamic interface needed to capture the style of the retro material that it highlighted. The client wanted to use animation and interactive features throughout the site; but the controls had to be intuitive and simple to pick up, even for the novice user of web sites. The database had to be easily expandable and contain thousands of images of retro tv stills, collectable cards, toys, historical documents, LP and EP records, newspapers, magazines TV Guides and Comics.

THE SOLUTION

We presented many different styles to the client, who chose the most illustrative of the bunch. The site was created using Macromedia's Flash, using subtle animations and techniques where appropriate. The slogans on the marquee of the Home page cycle, the spotlights search the sky, and the logo plays a brief video when clicked. The Screening Room uses a slide show metaphor for viewing the TV stills, a single click on each still reveals the actors' names and a description of the show. The Poster page employs a Magnifying glass to reveal the fantastic detail within the poster (which will be given away free to those who use the Contact page to send a request). The Gallery section's primary navigation uses Flash; the rest of the section is generated from the database of 2800+ images.
